NEW WILDLIFE CLINIC TO FILL GAP IN WILDLIFE CARE
July 09, 2009

Research Triangle Park, N.C. – The Triangle Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic (TWRC) is a new nonprofit organization formed specifically to provide rehabilitation and medical care for wildlife native to North Carolina. TWRC is responding to the void created by the July closing of the Piedmont Wildlife Clinic, the only area wildlife hospital. TWRC will provide veterinary care for sick, orphaned, and injured wildlife beginning the first week of August 2009.

To accomplish this mission, TWRC needs public support. With the generosity of public donations, volunteer hours, and experienced volunteers with fundraising experience, TWRC hopes to stay open year-round. TWRC will begin building membership immediately to keep the new clinic operational. (Contact information is listed below.)

TWRC has a staff veterinarian to provide on-site medical care. Injured and orphaned birds, mammals, and reptiles will be given care at the new hospital. TWRC will resume wildlife care at 1417 Seaton Road in Durham during the first week in August.

“TWRC is looking forward to supporting the triangle community in their efforts to protect and safeguard native wildlife,” said local wildlife rehabilitator and founding TWRC President, Pamela Bayne.

The need is great for a regional wildlife rehab clinic. During August and September, TWRC anticipates as many 750 to 1,000 calls from the community requesting help for injured and orphaned wildlife. Despite the circumstances of our economy, TWRC is committed to assisting the public with helping injured wildlife, as well as assisting numerous home rehabilitators and other wildlife organizations. TWRC was founded by people with wildlife rehabilitation experience who are dedicated to providing medical and supportive care for wildlife. The goal is to release recovered and healthy animals back into their native habitats.

“TWRC understands that the summer is a critical time for wildlife in need of assistance and is dedicated to providing the rehabilitation and veterinary care essential for their survival,” said Pamela Bayne.

Triangle Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic (TWRC):
TWRC is now the only wildlife organization in the Triangle that provides exclusive veterinary care and rehabilitation for native wildlife. TWRC is incorporated in the State of North Carolina as a nonprofit corporation. Pending the 501(c)3 nonprofit determination, TWRC requests all donors contact the organization by email at info@trianglewildlife.org or via mail to PO Post Office Box 908, Carrboro, North Carolina 27510. TWRC will provide information regarding how donations to Triangle Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic may be claimed as tax-deductible while the IRS 501(c)3 status is finalized. Donations will directly pay for rehabilitation activities.
