TRIANGLE WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CLINIC TEAMS WITH LARGEST NETWORK OF REHABILITATORS IN THE TRIANGLE
After the hospital at Piedmont Wildlife Center closed, local rehabilitators, veterinary professionals, and other individuals concerned about the ongoing welfare of our native wildlife stepped in to open the Triangle Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic. TWRC is a non-profit 501(c)(3)
organization. Triangle Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic is open to the public seven days a week, and cares for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife in our area. In addition to medical care, our knowledgeable and dedicated rehabilitators, volunteers, and staff veterinarian are also available
to assist the public with wildlife questions and concerns.
TWRC works together with Wildlife Welfare Inc., the largest network of home reahabilitators in the Triangle area. Wildlife Welfare has successfully assisted the public with wildlife concerns through its hotline and network of licensed rehabilitators for almost 20 years. Wildlife Welfare has been an extremely valuable asset to our community by caring for thousands of wild animals. TWRC and Wildlife Welfare also offer yearly training classes to those who would like to
volunteer and/or become a rehabilitator. Together, TWRC and Wildlife Welfare comprise the largest network of experienced licensed wildlife rehabilitators in the area. Both groups are proud to partner together to offer answers to our community's wildlife questions, as well as to provide
professional and immediate care to wildlife in need.
“People don’t realize the number of birds that can come in during the spring and summer....hundreds! The majority of rehabilitators are not licensed to care for birds. That is only one of the reasons we need the Triangle Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic. There are just not enough rehabilitators to handle the quantity of birds that need help”, says Patricia Hoover, president of Wildlife Welfare. In addition to songbirds and raptors, TWRC also cares for mammals and reptiles.
TWRC is fortunate to have a staff veterinarian. As clinic responsibilities permit, we are pleased to offer professional veterinary support to area home rehabilitators, including physical exams, supportive care in the clinic, X-rays, splinting and diagnostics. TWRC is also committed to
providing any excess non-pharmaceutical supplies and food to the area’s wildlife caregivers.
TWRC works in cooperation with local veterinary hospitals, animal control officers, state and federal agencies, the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine, and the Carolina Raptor Center. The ultimate goal of RESCUING and REHABILITATING wildlife is the successful RELEASE of these animals back to their natural habitat to balance the wildlife affected by our continued growth and development throughout the Triangle. TWRC needs the financial support of our community in order for us to accomplish this valuable work.
