TRIANGLE WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CLINIC (TWRC): LOCAL MERCHANTS HELP WILDLIFE HOSPITAL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 5, 2009

LOCAL MERCHANTS REACH OUT TO COMMUNITY WILDLIFE HOSPITAL

TWRC, the Triangle’s ONLY wildlife hospital since the closing of the Piedmont Wildlife Center Hospital in July of this year, celebrates its GRAND OPENING with local events to support its mission.

The outstanding generosity of Scott and Elizabeth at Caffe Driade in Chapel Hill and Open Eye Café in Carrboro, and Annette and Jeff at Studio 91 in Meadowmont, who are hosting benefits to raise funds for TWRC, brings confidence that this NEW wildlife hospital will be able to continue to fulfill its mission. At these events, local cuisine will include delights from J & J Deli, Queen of Sheba, Azure Grille, LaRussa’s Trattoria, Café Carolina, and other restaurants. “During these events we will be presenting our message to the Triangle communities that TWRC’s commitment to RESCUE, REHABILITATE and RELEASE will help to bring balance to our native wildlife populations affected by our region’s growth” says  Director Joy Gurganus. “At this time, our clinic is operating on a month-to-month basis from donations by members of our communities. We need your support!”

Join us this Saturday, NOV. 7th from 2-5p.m. at Caffe Driade on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill for an afternoon of wine, dance music, food, raffles, and festivities at our Wine Tasting Contest Benefit for the Triangle’s NEW wildlife hospital. Proceeds go to the medical care, rehabilitation and release of injured and orphaned native North American wildlife. Tickets available at www.trianglewildlife.org or the venues below.

“We are fortunate to be working together with local wildlife rehabilitators, Wildlife Welfare Inc., the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine through The Turtle Team, and the Carolina Raptor Center. TWRC is also looking forward to working with the College of Veterinary Medicine on future externship programs to enrich the quality of care for North Carolina wildlife” states TWRC president Pamela Bayne.

TRIANGLE WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CLINIC (TWRC) is a volunteer organization serving Orange, Durham, and Wake Counties, and surrounding areas. TWRC has a staff veterinarian and is open to the public 7 days a week.
